Setting up Shop – The Shop

Saying I want to sell some photos is all very well, but how do I actually go about selling prints? If no one knows they are there, no one will buy them (naturally, that is part of the reason why I am writing a blog about it…), but this leads to a very important question – where will I host my shop?

There are loads of platforms available for selling photographs, too many in fact, however I think I have decided to at least begin by using Etsy. It’s already an extremely well established selling platform and there are a lot of photo prints for sale there, which means people will be looking for printed work. Of course, this does also introduce a lot of competition, but photography is already a totally saturated market – selling will come down to people’s preference, and I can’t really do anything about that. There are fees for selling on Etsy, but they aren’t prohibitive and as all of the infrastructure is all ready there it will certainly make my life easier, as I have no real idea what I’m doing.

So, without further ado (what is ado?), I have registered a shop name on Etsy! ElementalPhotoShop! (imaginative, right? I feel it’s important to stick with the theme…).

Well, that is the first decision made, and the first step taken. Now I need to decide how I am going to stock the shop, and what images I will stock it with
