An abstract of the reed beds at my local nature reserve
This week, I’m going a little abstract. I took this photo at the local nature reserve, with the sun in full shine. The white background is actually the water’s surface, with all detail blown out by the bright sun. All I did in post processing was make the switch to black and white, and boost the contrast a little.
I really enjoy this picture, the lack of colour makes me focus on the texture of the reeds more, I can almost feel my fingers running through them. I worked hard on the composition as well, thankfully it was quite a still day, although the bright light meant I could work with a high shutter speed, I was careful to compose some negative space in the top right to balance the stems. There was no reasoning behind what I chose in the end, only that it felt right.
